DAY THREE
Our final day of riding will be a spectacular one!
Leaving our little oasis atop Monte San Michele, we'll enjoy a
long,
well-earned descent.
we'll follow the ridge line of the mountain, then after a few short technically
challenging sections, reach
Sugame pass,

a
famous mountain pass for the local road cyclists.
From here, we can decide to follow a
singletrack downhill
with a few short steep uphills or take it easier, opting for a
quiet
paved road.
we'll be riding through an
unspoiled area of the Chianti,
with quiet woods opening out into lovely views, and passing through some
tiny villages, including Cintoia, famous for its
spring
water.
After Cintoia, we'll enter an
enchanting wood,
following a babbling brook, and crossing over a stone bridge with views
of an inviting waterfall. Passing through a few more villages, including
Sezzate with its'
medieval castle, we'll then
reach Grassina, our destination for lunch. We'll dine in a local trattoria
and enjoy hanging out in this suburb of Florence.
From here, we are close to Florence and we'll follow small secondary roads
to the
little jem of a church, Santa Margherita
a Montici.
Then it's downhill to the
Piazzale Michelangelo,
with its most commanding view of the city of Florence; we'll have to stop
at the nearby
San Miniato al Monte, the finest
example of
Romanesque art in Florence.
To conclude the tour, we'll enjoy a ride through the
old
city center and pass some of Florence's most important churches and
monuments on our way to the final coup de grace, a gelato at
our
favorite gelateria in Florence.
