This easy bike tour takes you through a beautiful part of the Chianti where the hills are softer and the riding more relaxed.

It is perfect for families and those looking for an easier ride.

We will begin the ride in a small village named for its medieval monastery and church. Along with the surrounding towns, it Riding on a quiet roadcame into being because of its proximity to the Via Francigena.
We will be following this centuries' old pilgrimmage and trade route that was built to connect Northern Europe to Rome.
Abandoned for many years, it has been recently rediscovered by cyclists and hikers looking for new ways to discover the rich history and natural beauty of the area.

We will be riding on the famous strade bianche, quiet unpaved roads, passing through small hamlets and farm fields on our way to the town of Colle Val d'Elsa, "the hill in the valley of the river Elsa".
We will have a short climb up to this town built on an outcropping above the valley. There we can have lunch on the veranda of a local trattoria with the best spaghetti al pomodoro we have ever tasted.

We will also have time to visit this beautifully preserved fortified town with its medieval and Renaissance architecture and lovely vistas. It is also famous for its production of crystal: 80% of all Italian and 30% of worldwide production happens here in Colle.
We can visit the workshop of the only artisan in town who engraves his own designs and patterns onto the crystal using traditional techniques.

In the afternoon, we will ride along the rolling hills of the Chianti Colli Senesi vineyards
back to our starting point.
